    I read the whole article, and it doesn't even say that it was 12k rounds per gun. It just say that 4 guns were tested, and 12k rounds were fired. I can't imagine even the cheapest 1911 cracking like that after only 3,000 rounds though. Even without intermittent oiling.
    The contract is worth up to $22.5 million. They have not currently spent that much. It also was 12000 rounds per gun.

      Seems like the fix is not to shoot your sidearm 12,000 times, oh wait that's impossible.

        Those loose ones run just like an AK. Not as accurate, but they never have a malfunction.
