Never had much faith in Stack-Ons to begin with.

Currently, the kids know to leave daddy's Gun Vault alone (it's not the one shown in this article). It all begins with education with the kids and getting them to have a deep respect for firearms.

Education and teaching a large dose of respect can go a longer way than a strong safe when kids are in the mix. I was raised around all kinds of firearms (I remember watching my grand dad fire his fully auto Uzi(I was a kid, don't know what it actually was) into the ground so us kids could then try to dig and find the rounds) and was taught a VERY healthy respect for them. My step dad took me into a field when I was 5 years old and let me fire his 12 gauge shotgun. A bloody nose later and I quickly learned it wasn't something to play with. If I did ever play with them then I knew my ass was gonna be blistered. Too bad you can't do that today without getting a phone call from CPS.

That video of the 3 year old getting into the safe is about the dumbest damn "look how easy it is" video Iv seen. The dad taught the kid how to open it and showed the kid the sequence for the last one. Toddlers are capable of learning how to do a lot of things if you teach them. Mine can unlock an iphone then get on youtube and look up vids of cars/trains/diego.
Most safes are pieces of crap and easy to open once you've been shown how.

Its called bouncing, most safes have a spring mechanism in it and this bypasses it. Here's an article from last year about it.

I like the GunVault brand so far. Some have poor reviews, but I got the something-something deluxe for a hangun and it's smooth/functions well and way better feel/construction compared to "cheap" safes that are NOT that much cheaper.

Nice foam in it, a light...etc.
