Anyone have opinions of these pistols? I saw there are two versions with the russian version being prefered but other than that they are pretty much identical. How rare is the ammo and would I be able to pick any up locally? I like the look and price of the gun and have read it shoots nice as well. So lets here it from the experts here, what do you think?

Like Adam said, cool gun and great caliber. Ammo isn't too hard to find or too pricey. Here's some for $.25/rd: http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index....l-metal-jacket"It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

It is a lot more expensive than it use to be. They are good guns. There are two types of 7.62x25, tokarev ammo, and ppsh41 ammo. The ppsh ammo is the 2000fps ammo, and from my understanding you're not really suppose to run that in the pistols, but some guys do. I'd do some research first. The ammo is the reason the ppsh's have one of the highest cylic rates there is.

I USED to have a Norinco Tokarev Type 54 7.62x25 pistol (it was my first handgun). It was very accurate and I can't recall that I ever had problems with feeding it (several hundred rounds). The ammo they sell in the US is NOT the same STEEL tipped armor piercing ammo they sold in Russia...and when I had mine back around 93-94 I had to drive to Mesquite to buy ammo because very few places sold it then. I sold it to a friend and picked up a newer Norinco 213 9mm and it shoots very well with everything I've fed it (probably close to 1000 rounds since I bought it). They are heavy and don't have beautiful machine work....but they are good shooters. I would say they are very similar in feel and function to a GI issue Colt 45 (1911).

I have shot them many times, they are great guns for the money. Try to get an original one, some of the later model imports have a stupid ass safety added which looks like shit."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
