You should feel uneasy! Too many safeties to remove if draw-and-fire are necessary, and have fun with the grip safety if you take a round through the hand.

One safety that can be clicked off with your thumb as you're pulling the gun out? Eh...

And LOL @ getting shot in the hand. Shouldn't you be keeping all the far-fetched hypotheticals in the Batman thread?

Sounds like some pussy bullshit I'd hear from a limp wristed Kahr owner.

This is exactly why I've never been comfortable with carrying a gun just loose in my pocket. On a rare occasion I'll just put my LC9 in my pocket, but I move all keys etc to a different pocket and double check the safety is on.

Yeah, in fact if I get shot through my hand I'm just going to use my eye-laser-beams. Ultimate CCW. Don, some of the shit you come up with is fucking retarded.

No...and I'm calling BS with the accidentally. Moron was probably playing with it in his pocket.

I know it's considered a paper weight to carry unchambered, but this is why I've always been hesitant carrying with it loaded...much less with the hammer cocked.

I'll switch between a Bersa .380 and a Kimber UC2. The .380 has a safety lever and the Kimber has the grip safety, but I just can't get comfortable with the possibility of something like this happening...maybe I'm overreacting. I use a inner-pocket sleeve or a side holster so I know my trigger is covered AND for the sleeve, I can't (and wouldn't) fit anything else in that pocket anyway.

Agreed. My friend has an XD .40SC and I dont see how it would "accidentally" fire carrying it in a holster IWB while going for your wallet in your pocket.

I was being pretty specific with the hand comment, actually. This AAR:

He was shot through both hands by the perp and had a FTF because he didn't have enough grip pressure to depress the grip safety. Gun was obviously a 1911.

A couple weapons training/tactical shooting instructors in that thread said 25% of police officer gunfights involve hand wounds. LOL, one even mentioned how he uses specific gloves with the SIMfire ammo now because of how much it hurt to get shot in the hands with the stuff... and it happened often. As for a reason I would ASSuME target fixation at close range, i.e. shooting the other guy's gun.

The whole idea about not picking a gun because you're shot through the hand is the dumbest shit I've ever heard presented.

This just in - if you're shot in the head your Kahr won't help you either.

If this is the best anti-1911 example you have, then I think everyone can feel safe out there.

I carry my 1911 cocked and locked with no uneasy feeling at all.

My response was directly towards the grip safety of the 1911, my reponse to Adam's comment was also directly towards the grip safety. It's all I need to not carry one (pistol with a grip safety). Both of my CCWs do not have a grip safety and I wouldn't want to carry a CCW that did have a grip safety. There's nothing else to my comment other than that. If all you have for a CCW is a 1911, at least you have a CCW.

Maybe you should consider carrying a revolver then. You know, in case you're shot in the hand and have to clear a jam - how are you going to rack the slide with a hole in your hand?

You're really reaching hard to come up with a reason to not like a 1911. They've been used in combat for decades.
