Just depends. They need a few rounds thru them to run good and the news ones are way better then the earlier ones. Also most of the people whining are mad because they have FTE's using Walmart Bulk. I have had zero issues running remington express 00 thru mine on the right setting. It does not like the low recoil stuff at all either. I imagine after I get the bolt polished it will run anything. I love mine!

Saying that though if I had to do it over again I would probably go with a 930 SPX which is great right out of the box my buddy reports. Only because I think it would be more user friendly for my wife. Also I think the SPX has enough juice to handle any situation. You never realize how much fire power 30 rounds of 00 is until you shoot it a few times. Maybe if you ran into a pack of zombies.

Went shooting thi weekend with a guy that had one. One big jam session for him. He offered to let me shoot it, told him nope I'm good with my mine. He said the problem was the ammo. I wanted one, now not so much.
Guys fingers were blistered and bleeding from it jamming 90% of the time. Not saying they're all like this but I def don't care if I own one or not.

Did he ever switch his gas settings?

If not, he should check out this:
What do those mysterious positions 1 and 2 mean? As you can see on the picture, there is a STOP BUTTON or PIN (or whatever else you would like to call it…) that you need to press IN (with a screw driver for example…) to turn the gas regulator. You might want to take the gas regulator out complete...
            .

Actually yes, he mentioned something about the adjustable gas regulator and that he needed to buy one. Said long brass would eject fine but the tactical shorter brass shells wouldn't?
I know nothing about them so I don't know if they all come with the adjustable regulator or if it's an option and he chose not to get it. I'm guessing it's an option the way he was talking.
Eitherway his fingers were pretty bad and whatever extra it cost, I'm sure he wishes he would've got it.

Mine jams with target bullshit, but with hot loads you can shoot it all day without issue

I would tune it to run with target bullshit. A fucking shotgun should run anything, they are not a precision instrument.

I agree 100% while i think they are fucking awesome ive seen more then one jam up at the range (garland) both mags.. the regular straight ones and the tommy gun style one.. about one out of every 6-10 shots they were fucking with it.. If you cant hit someone with a mossberg after 5 rounds you better run at them and beat them to death with it... I do want to own one of these one day but i will probably spend a lot of time and money fine tuning it to make it reliable...

but yes for 1k the deal is pretty good as long as everything appears in good shape

Most people think LE shells are some kind of special hot load (sounded dirty). LE rounds are low recoil, less kick, less everything, designed for pump shotguns, and less penetration. The Saiga was designed to run hot shells. Yes it can be made to run bulk and LE, but I like mine just how it sits for now. Plenty of happy Saiga owners running all sorts of crap ammo after a few mods. The autoplug also works great once you get your shotty tuned right. I have had zero issues running slugs and good 00. Another thing guys dont get is that you dont leave one chambered and then load another. Also you do not want to cram a full mag in with the bolt closed. Shotgun shells deform easily when crammed in with the bolt closed and a full mag so you get fail to feeds. Then using crap ammo you get fail to ejects. It is easy to see why people think they are not good guns but in truth the damn thing just needs some good directions. I leave mine with the 10 round in it and bolt open sitting in the corner. Even if I polished and reprofiled the bolt I would leave the bolt open. I just tell my wife to pull the bolt and rock and roll. Thats the only reason I say the SPX is easier. I leave my stuff hot laying around the house since I have no kids.

The main thing when looking to buy a new one is to unscrew the gas plug and look inside. You want to make sure you can see or feel 3 or 4 ports. The guns that were a problem had two or three ports nad some of them were covered up or drilled a little high. I converted my own gun and it was a nice little learning curve for me.
