Im fixing to go get a new battery and give it a try. On a side note I think this just about sews it up on electronic locking mechanisms for me."You don't so much drive it, more like poke it with a sharp stick and channel the fury when you piss it off."

i jsut replaced the 9v on mine. it was telling me it was dying. after entering the code and opening the door it would beep like 10 times, i assumed that it meant the battery was dying swapped it out and the beeping stopped so i guess that was it. best of luck.

While you have it open you need to check the screws that mount the back board on the door. They have a known problem of the screws going in too deep and stopping the bolts from retracting.......i learned that the hard way. They drilled some screws in just the right spot over the bolts. I had mine for years...opened it a thousand times....then one day beep soleniod click....no release. It was a mess but i finally got it open. Smart enough to check it with the door open and bolts would not retract again....found 1 screw barley hanging on the inside of a bolt.....no open. Took the screw out 1 turn and never another problem. I talked to Winchester and they said....O YEAH..THAT HAPPENS. NICE
