Also, I should add... Is ca a no interstate transfer state? I know some of the restricted states cannot ftf a gun, you have to have an ffl transfer it."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I believe cali is a no transfer state.
If you find a pre-ban colt in Texas you can not take it to California. If the gun isnt already registered in Cali as a preban, then its still illegal (Kinda like the feds NFA registry)
I could be wrong. Most people I know in Cali buy a mini-14, since the ranch rifle isnt banned

I saw a vid a while back of a guy that could swap "clips" in a bullet button rifle pretty expeditiously, but being that this will be a range gun, it's not a concern of mine. I'm already used to dealing with 10 round "clips" in my Glock and Kimber.
**I know that it is a magazine, the use of "clip" was for CJ's amuzement only.

I really don't think they'll let you bring a Pre-Ban Colt SP1 into the State. I believe I read that if it wasn't registered in California by X Date, then they would remain illegal. (California has a registry of pre-ban rifles I believe, and if the gun isn't on that registry, then you can't have it in a pre-ban status.).
Think about it, Having a 30 round magazing for a AR-15 in California is a FELONY. A Felony for having a piece of plastic or a boxed shapped piece of metal??? Come on..

You cannot take a pre-ban lower into the state, but the lowers that aren't allowed are very plainly listed. Any lower that is not on that list can be brought into the state in a compliant configuration.Last edited by ThreeFingerPete; 07-20-2012, 12:01 PM.
