Stolen guns in the Arlington area

So my buddy came home saturday night to find his bike stolen, gets upset and leaves his guns in the trunk of his car. Comes out next morning, remembers his guns are in the trunk and goes to find that they are gone. Already told him he was an idiot for leaving them unsecured, but nonetheless here we go. I'll update with serial numbers when I get them, until then this is all I got. The only reason I'm throwing the generic guns in is in case someone sees them all together.

Stag Arms AR15 - Has a Daniel Defense quad rail, spikes hydraulic buffer, tan ACOG with dot sight on top. Has a foward grip and sling. Has a bunch of tacti-cool stuff on it.

Para-Ordnance 1911 - P219649 This should stand out, its a tan and black 1911 that soldiers buy whenever we come back from overseas. It says 72nd IBCT on it, has the National Guard minuteman logo on one side and the T patch with cross rifles behind it.

Remington 870 - Has door breacher on it, heat shield, side saddle and collapsable stock.

Glock 23C - PI2359203

All the guns were in a large case, don't know if it was his soft tactical bag or his pelican case. He has already filled a police report, and I told him to start hitting all the local pawn shops. Told him to write off the bike as a loss and focus on getting these guns back. I know this is very vague info for now, but like I said, I'll get serial numbers here later to post up and at least get a chance of finding this stuff.

He won't see them again, I wouldn't waste my gas going to the pawn shops, if they turn up in one the cops will find out.

Seems like he was followed from a gun range or what ever. I'm just guessing here that he was shooting that day.

A video threefingerpete had posted mentions showing your support for 2A on your vehicle, I had to remove my decals because I felt it was advertisement to thieves breaking into my truck or home looking for my guns.

Apartments near the Hurricane Harbor is where he is at. I told him he was an idiot for leaving his bike out in the open, they even get stolen out of garages for christ's sakes. I also told him it is never a smart idea to leave firearms in a car, period. It really sounds like someone he recently met at the school has heard what he does in his free time or someone cruising through the parking lots checking for unlocked vehicles. I have had an issue before at an apartment complex with people just waltzing through checking doors. He had just came back from a range day the day before, got upset about the bike and forgot. I told him the odds of ever seeing the guns again are slim to none, just hope

I try not to advertise I have guns, or that there are guns in the car. No pro 2A stuff, in fact no stickers at all. The wife has a pink grenade sticker on her car because she thought it was funny, but other than that we keep things 'sterile'. Either way, I think this is a good lesson in be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to who is around you.

Where you live plays the biggest role of your odds of becoming a victim. There is a reason they call it white flight for a reason. Nothing good can come of apartments in that area and it is only going to get worse.

Update: No S/N for the AR15, since it was stored on his laptop that was in the car also and is gone.

Yeah, that area may as well be the ghetto. I'm pretty fortunate that I have roommates, so someone is always home. I work nights, so I'm there throught the day till someone shows up before I leave for work. As long as I do my part to secure my belongings, I think we are covered. There are times when nobody's home and that's when I start to worry some.

That's why I carried my AR-15 in a red Nike baseball bat bag. My range bag was an innocent looking Sears toolbag. Nothing screams "Guns in here" than those tacticool range bags.

He's working on that now. The 870 was one I had bought way back then sold to him last year, and will have to look for my receipts for its S/N or call the store I bought it from.

I got one also when I returned from Iraq. Went with the 14+1 set up. We did have a few guys that had issues with them but nothing a little effort didn't take care of. Mine is locked in a case, in the safe, to be handed over to my future children or pryed from my cold dead hands.

We have a smal black case you get at walmart for range trips with the wife, but other than that I try and keep things on the down low.

Precisely why I'll be bringing mine with me when I am in TX the first two weeks of August. Getting robbed is bad enough, but insurance will replace the electronics. Wondering if your gun is being used by some low-life to commit more crime sucks, even if you were reimbursed for it. Been there, done that.
