Well, the prosecutor has stated they have no interest in pursuing charges.

Awesome! It does piss me off to no end how the criminals try to turn it around and make it sounds like they never meant to hurt anybody and blah blah blah blah.

This one is extremely cut and dry. Two armed, masked men came in to a cafe to rob it and the patrons. The camera showed them wielding a firearm. A man legally carrying a firearm used it to combat the assailants who were endangering him and other people. If that isn't legitimate use of a firearm, I don't want to know what is.

Only person who was getting hurt in this situation was THEM. And I am okay with that even knowing their shit was rust and unloaded. If I have not said it enough before. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

That is what should happen EVERY TIME someone tries to commit a crime. I love them bitching about being shot on the ground

Just because it's cut and dry doesn't mean lawyers won't get involved. Anywhere there's money or publicity to be had you can expect there to be a lawyer involved. Do I think this man would ever be convicted of anything? No, but, I can see the legal system making his life miserable and financially costly for a while if the right lawyer were to get involved. It's happened before.

yeah since when does cut and dry mean a god damned thing ?
the cops just typically show up and fuck everything up and arrest every one.
Then they decide whatever feels-good-at-the-time is fair.
Later you get to spend every ounce of your retirement saving defending your ass in court
That's what really fucking happens in this day and age.
The criminals are the ones getting the protection by working 'outside' the judicial system.
Fuck man , as far as I can tell these little jack asses in the video look just like Obama's kid to me!

I agree with you but what about the Jerome Ersland video? He's in prison because he shot the kid after he was incapacitated. In the heat of the moment, after being robbed at gunpoint Ersland shot the kid a few more times when he was down. This is after a traumatic event in which his life was threatened.

The reality is he was prosecuted because the black community was and has been given a platform to cry foul at every turn and the District Attorney made a political move.

So how cut and dry will this be when Jesse, Al and Spike start speaking up.

When will this man's address be tweeted?

It is Jerome's emotions that turned a good shoot into a execution. Ironically enough though, the kid on the ground he shot was going to die anyways. Delivering that fatal shot as "retaliation" is what he is serving time for. The law only allows for you to stop the threat by means of deadly force, not punish them for committing a crime against you. Rule #1 to carrying a gun should always be, learn to control your emotions or suffer their consequences.

I'm not attacking you when I say that's a load of shit. That's politically motivated nonsense. That's the same thinking that gets Soldiers and Marines condemned for killing enemy combatants or those they presume to be combatants.

If we all have to think about the consequences of our actions when we are victimized than we may as well turn in our guns, throw our hands up and just say fuck it.

If Ersland had only injured the kid with the first shot and then gone back and finished him off days or weeks later than that's one thing. That wasn't the case.

Ersland didn't and still doesn't strike me as the mall ninja type that carries a CHL badge and wear's 5.11 attire everywhere he goes.

My point is that this was an intense and high stress situation in which his life was threatened. To say he retaliated or lost his cool I think is absurd. This is my opinion however. I thought and still think the Ersland acted appropriately and in self defense.

Ersland was convicted for political reasons and the kid he killed was treated as a victim.

Ironically the other robber was also convicted of murder as well.

Once again, not attacking you at all.

My understanding is that you're a veteran like me so I'd like to think that we see eye to eye on the high stress situation theory.

No foul taken. I just know how to contain my emotions we I need to. Fighting an enemy in an act of war aside; my views there would differ. I have been on the receiving end and I wanted nothing more than to be able to "retaliate" and punish.
