yes, it has. if i could do it, i would get a handful of people, all with m4's a few with an aimpoint, and a few with eotechs. i bet my paycheck that the ones with eotechs pick up target FASTER, get shots off FASTER, and more accurate than those with the aimpoints.

I think the eotech has a slightly more user friendly pickup. I think the Army's problem is the way their usage is taught. I attended the Army Weapons/ Optics expert course and even there its sketchy. Too much focus on bad basic marksmanship leads to people learning to "aim" with the red dot. trying to concentrate too much on something that is supposed to be reflex fire.

i.e. looking at them like scopes

I see a lot of news footage of guys with Aimpoints on 240B's. How do they hold up there?

That's all fine and dandy until it gets dark.

Then my EOTech is a just a red crosshair on a black plane, not a whole lot different IMO.

I started running competitions without any fancy optics and have been doing better, lol.

That's why you have brightness settings, so it doesn't dilate your eyes with the light differential. You can't use iron sights with nvg's. Iron sights are great, but for speed they are inferior.

Also, at night the muzzleflash will blind you, the eotech is much more functional during shooting at night in my experience.

I think that's really the advantage to an Aimpoint. They're pretty cheap, and they are one of the easiest sights to add night vision to.

Yeah, but because they are a dual element enclosure they have more light loss, id give the edge to the eotech, however aimpoints are better magnified imo.

I adjust the brightness according to the situation, and I do not own night vision. Also, in competition the guys who run iron sights are either in another class or scored differently than the guys who run optics.

Also I have never been blinded by muzzle flash, and I have shot ARs, ported pistols, 44 mags, FALs, and machineguns at night and have never been blinded.

Dont get me wrong, I have taken my eotech hunting before, but I feel like it didnt really help. It was just a crosshair on a field of black.

Right. I think fbodyjohnny has a point about them not standing up to abuse. I just like mine a lot. I may get an EOTech for the 870, though.

I have an Eotech 512 (the one that uses the 2 AA's). I absolutely love it and i had one beef with it, it doesn't keep the intensity setting. I turn mine down almost all the way when i use it and every time i turn it on its bright again. Not much of a beef really.

never seen a 240b with an aimpoint on it, most of them are fitted with what the military calls a "M145" which is a magnified optic, somewhat similar to an acog but with a bullet drop crosshair setup. VERY accurate, but, when being engaged and getting caught up in a heavy ambush meaning you gota haul balls outta there, not much use to it because who wants to try and aim the thing when ur gettin bounced around and shit like that, so most the time its just point and shoot. an aimpoint wouldnt hold up to the abuse,,, continous shaking while firing, slamming the feed cover down, jus wouldnt hold up long. junk.
