I didn't see that in their Tactical League FAQ about having to do those classes first.

    I did find this

    What caliber is allowed?
    0

The Shoot Smart Tactical League will be .223 rifle and .40 or .45 pistol.
Guess if you own a 9mm you're out.

But then I find this in the description of the Tactical Leauge

Competitors will use an array of firearms, including an AR-15 sport rifle or similar firearm (.223/5.56), semi-automatic pistol 9 mm or higher with double stack capacity.

This was very cool. It was a good time.

36 yards would e ideal but 50 works just fine at any distance we'd be shooing.

Well mine isn't an AR but the front site post is bout the same hight. So I remove my rear sight and cowitnessed with the front site. Using to front post as a aim reference . Hope I'm saying all this right. First time I did it the old fashion way. A couple boxes of ammo and some paper plates. Used my range bag as a rest for the rifle. Put some black dots on the paper. Took three steady slow shots. Adjust my red dot accordingly . Took me bout 50 rounds. Second time I did was cuz the red dit took a crap on me. But I use a bore laser. Adjust the dot the line up line with the lazers dot . Then took it out to fine tune it. Took about 10 rounds that time

So are there any amateur 3gun competitions around the DFW area? Or are there any amateur rifle courses non-vets can take? I know how to handle my weapon. I can clear a jam, tactical reload, standard reload and have a good shooting stance. Other than that I'd just like to learn.

Cross Timbers IDPA has rifle or multigun matches most months.

Due to our past experiences with other customers. Our company policy is for customers to take level 1 before level 2, and level 2 before level 3. The reasons are for safety and all shooters need refreshers. Our courses are priced low enough for our customers to take the series of classes multiple times. I can offer you a 25% discount on the level 1 course.

Sooooooooo I'd have to pay 135 dollars to even get to take their LVL 2 class. I'll sleep on it. I'm truly curious what they have to offer for that price point.

                              I'll go.

Edit: I'm at least in for the first. Depending on this weekend I might be able to afford the second one.

This place seems pretty cool. Hopefully I can take some of their courses in the next month or two.
