So if any of you went , I hope you found some deals on at least something as I really did not . The pricing at gun shows has gone stupid . I went looking for a deal on a lower parts kit and the cheapest I saw was $65 . I did pick up a Magpul stock and a pair of Magpul MBUS for $60 for all of it .

Yeah the prices were pretty high, I hate to say it but it's almost better to buy stuff online and have it shipped in. I do like to walk around and look at everything but there were so many people even that was a pain. I think I'll stick to the smaller shows.Originally posted by Nash B.Damn, man. Sorry to hear that. That seems to be the trend everywhere! The gun show down here for example:
Off-brand (never heard of it) stripped lower: $130
P-Mag: $30
"Factory Reloaded" ammo for the same price as new retail
Remington 870 Express for $400
list goes on. Seems the only way to get a good deal at the shows is to buy used lately.
Hell, down in FL (as with most states) military training substitutes for a CHL course. So you can go to the Sheriff's office, pay $75 for the paperwork processing and membership fee (they call it a tax) and you can have your CHL in a few weeks.
Well they had a table at this gun show here and my buddy wanted his CHL. They were charging $80 for military to take care of all of the paperwork and notarize the documents. So he filled out the application, she notarized the documents and charged his card $80. She then proceeded to tell him to take this envelope to the desk where the sheriffs were sitting and fill out the rest and pay them the $75 tax. I have a feeling he got screwed into paying $80 for a notary... lol

I've been looking at ammo prices at the last few shows I've gone to and have come to the conclusion that I will probably never buy ammo at the gun show. The last one at Market Hall I found a guy selling a few of the Remington UMC JHP 9mm 100 packs that Wal-Mart stocks for 27.99. He was asking 40. When I asked him why he was selling it for 13 dollars more than Walmart he got all pissed off and told me to go buy it from Walmart.

Whenever it's an election year I don't even go to gun shows."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

It is lame. I've been going to gun shows for 13 years, aside for being gone on deployments, and have seen how things have changed. Last year a buddy and I decided to get involved and start our own business. Needless to say we were shocked when we walked around and saw what people were asking while knowing what they paid for it. There are still people out there being honest about it, and there some things that there isn't anything to be done about it, i.e. price is set by the manufacturer. What I can't stand are businesses blatantly ripping people off. $400 for a Maverick 88, are you f***ing kiddin me!?! We are still in the process of getting a FFL, therefore its a pain to even get parts at times, and when we do, we generally have to pay more than the FFL guys do (or the big spenders), and we still can price match them. Hell, I was running Yankee Hill Machine bolt carriers for what they were currently going for online at the show. I don't know what the deal, except people being greedy. Aero Precision lowers for $109, unless the cost went up a bit that is a joke. Last show the guy next to me was slinging them for $80 a pop. Magpul stuff is pretty solid for the most part, you have to be stupid to ask too much on those since everyone is selling it. Now used parts and such, that is where you will see things get really wild as far as difference in prices. Seen beat up trashed parts go for new prices. Just sad. Someday, maybe our business will grow and we can do more to offer people stuff without getting bent over, maybe even force these other guys to drop their prices, but until then I'm just the one table guy fighting to put stuff on my table and still be honest.
Btw, not trying to plug my company or anything, I know about the whole "no free advertising" on here. Kinda still pissed off at what I saw this past weekend.

Let's say someone is selling new AR p-mags. For $30 ea then you tell him the rest of the world sells them for $15-18 ea. He'll say ok you can have it for $29 ea.
Fucking pointless. Just like flee markets same thing... people fucking asking new prices for old shit.

I usually manage to find a good deal or two when I go to gun shows, but then again there is a lot of shit on my wish list. I would agree that most of the stuff is marked up way too much these days and unfortunately there are a lot of dumbshits that pay those high prices and that just reinforces the trend.Atlantic Blue '00 - '03 Cobra motor and TKO600, solid axle, full MM suspension
Silver '01 Vette - D1 blown LS
