  • .223 ammo

As much as I prefer brass cased, the price is just getting too expensive. I'd like to start reloading, but I'm not at that point yet. I was doing some searching and found what I think is a good deal for Silver Bear. 1000 rounds for $260.00 with free shipping sounds like a good deal to me, so I picked up 1000 rounds. I know it's steel cased, but I took some advice and bought a broken case extractor from Brownells. Post up some deals of brass or steel cased ammo if y'all know of any.

That Silver Bear is actually pretty good ammo. It's nickel plated steel, and it's always worked well for me.

I shoot mostly Brown Bear which is made by the same factory but laquer coated instead of nickel coated. Runs just fine I've never had an issue with any of my rifles that wasn't' caused by worn parts in the weapon (worn extractors and weak hammer springs).

Say CJ, how much does 1,000 rounds of .223 cost you to reload?

Seriously, if you invest in a reloading press you will save enough to pay it off very quickly. And it is really fun to experiment with different loads/velocities and whatnot to try and optimize your shooting abilities.

I had one of these when I was in college-

It worked well and I learned how to reload on it (it gives you everything you need sans dies/materials).

My Dad has about 3,000 rounds of .223 he is wanting to unload since he sold all of his AR's. Anyone interested let me know and I will find out how much he wants and what all he has.

I understand that reloading would be cheaper, but I don't always have the time to sit down and churn out 1000 rounds. If I'm not at work, I'm at home sleeping. If I'm not sleeping there are other stuff that needs to be done around the house, or I might not want to jack with a damn thing. I don't mind paying for the convenience of ammo that is ready to fire. Now if steel case got up to $400 per 1000 and brass $600, I would seriously consider the option of reloading. Please don't take this post as offensive, it's just that some peoples schedules and daily routines differ from others. Thank you for your input though.

If you don't want to create a for sale add, post up here when you find out. I give you full permission to post up ammo for sale in my thread. If I don't jump at it, I'm sure someone else would.

                        *Getting in line to jump*

I'm down to about 200 - 300 rounds of brass left. Though, that PMC looks decent, and it's lead core so I can shoot steel targets = fun
