  • Local place to buy a vise block?

Now that I have my LPK in, I can finish up my 9mm SBR project (sans stock for right now) but it is from Rock River Arms and they put their aluminum free float guards on tighter than anything I have ever messed with.

From what I have read, it is going to take me and a blow torch and a strap wrench, but I do not have a vise block for AR-15.

Does Cabela's/Bass Pro/CTD have anything that will work? I am looking for the plastic molded type that clamp around the A3 upper type that go into a vise.

2 places that I know have carried such things are Bullet Trap and Gunmasters in Plano. I'd call since you're in Keller.

If you need to borrow one, let me know. It is just sitting in the tool box for now.

Just saw: If you have a strap wrench I have a torch, we can get it apart for sure.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I might just take you up on that offer, especially since I have never pulled one of these apart before. Problem is I don't know when I will be doing it. The house is taking 90% of my time up, haven't been to a range in about 6 months. I opened my safe up last night and enjoyed the whiff of "gun smell"...then I closed it lol.

I hear you there. I just picked up another 4hrs OT tonight. Seems I can not get time to do what I need to do but I can not turn down the OT when offered. I am whore like that.

If you don't buy a set I am sure we can find a time in our schedules that works for both of us. Taking apart the upper shouldn't take but a few minutes.

edit, CTD does not have the clam shell type as far as i know but they do have the type you pin the upper to, which works just fine.

And if you would like, I will be in that area tonight and have a vise block and a strap wrench.

I actually prefer those more, are they in-store? Or is it a "catalog" thing where I walk an extra 10 feet?

If it's in store, that's good. I did a deal about 4 months ago where you pay $25 for $50 worth of in-store credit. So I need to use it before it expires.

If you're not in a rush, just order one online. midwayusa.com should have what you're asking for...
