  • My CHL came in today!

    Glad to finally have it.

Got a question. Any of you CHL holders ride street bikes? Do you carry on them?

I have mixed emotions about it. I find that some of the most pissed off times that I am is because some asshole runs me off the road or into on coming traffic. (not that I would pull a gun on them) Just figured it was something to think about.

If you ride, what are your thoughts? Carry or not?

Yeah, either in my jacket or on my hip.

Better make sure you're tucked in or your leathers cover it when you're at speed.

Haha, just saying - there was a guy on THF with an IWB holster that spent a night in jail for that.

I got a waistband holster at the FW gun show that holds the gun perfectly in the small of my back....and yes....I double checked and even asked a friend of mine to verify riding behind me that my jacket covered it...he said he didn't know I had my gun on me until I told him. I ride with an armored leather jacket and it hides the gun VERY well....but when I first started carrying I was putting my PF9 in one of the pockets and zipping it closed.

My stance on the anger issue is...only you can decide if you will let a quick fit of anger land you in jail. If you believe that you have a tendency to road rage you might not want to carry (especially given how poorly a lot of people in the metroplex drive). Nobody can discuss what would qualify as a worthy situation to pull a gun on a forum because EVERY situation is different. Just yesterday some SMF driving an old beat to shit Impala started fucking with me and my buddies coming into Burleson from Granbury...first he started brake checking us (4 of us on separate bikes...3 big cruisers and me on my Blackbird)...we got fed up so we sped up and went around him. THEN he sped up and started tailgating us up to about 80 mph and turned on his high beams to blind us. This went on for about 10 miles. I was mentally preparing myself for what might happen if he tried to swerve into us or do some other act to try to endanger us...and YES...I was really thinking about that pistol on my belt if shit got bad. We all decided to do a group slowdown in front of him to about 40 and he finally shot around us coming into Burleson...and one of BPD's finest nailed him going past WalMart

I'm a lot more level headed and cool natured when I'm carrying.

x2 on both accounts. Then again, our idea of a good time is getting our motorcycle licenses together on a whim too.

I am not a road rage person by far. But damn people can piss you off when your on a motorcycle.

Had a lady riding my ass last Tuesday on the access road. She finally shot around me via the other two lanes that were open. Apparently she did not see the motorcycle cop sitting by the Ford dealership. Burleson's finest got her.

If you have any doubts, leave it at home. Just like I do during the times that I quit smoking.

When I did ride, I carried my gun in my tank bag and I holstered it on my person when I got off. I was to worried about "flashing" it while riding to carry it and it was quicker for me to access it in my tank bag rather than trying to unzip my jacket to get to it.

I ride a cruiser, so the bag on the windshield would be the ideal place. In the summer time, I really can see a place to carry a gun outside of carrying it in an ankle holster with pants.
