                I have a small .380 that does not cost much that I will carry. That way if it gets stolen, I won't feel quite so bad about it. Having a garage sale and it is in my pocket right now.

                  The hardest part is just sitting there all day. If anyone fails the shooting test, they should not own a gun.

                  One guy missed the outline of the target from 9 feet away. It is a big ass target. And he missed it many times and still passed.

                    You are going to trust your life with a .380? Spend the money and get at least a 9mm, I would suggest a .40 or .45. Buy a .380 if you want to save money at the range.

                      Actually, I have all those you listed. But they are a tad larger and would be harder to conceal. I figure I made it this far in life without shooting someone, I am hoping I can continue that run of good luck. Plus a .380 with hollow points will do some damage.

                        Technically a .380 is a 9mm.
                        .380=9x17
                        9mm makarov=9x18
                        9mm Luger/parrabellum=9x19
                        And there are a few more.

                        .380 is more expensive than 9x19 for range ammo as well, so there is no cost savings in shooting .380 as a range gun.

                        With all the new bullet technology over the past decade or more, there is nothing wrong with .380 as a defense round. Shot placement is more important than caliber. .22lr can be just as deadly as .45acp...
                        "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

                          Buy even though the projectile is essentially the same, longer casing equals more powder, more powder equals higher velocity, higher velocity equals more energy transferred.

                            Deadly is irrelevant. You want to stop the threat immediately to prevent yourself from harm. Sure your attacker may bleed out from a .22 but he is going to keep coming.

                              Just remember "rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". A well placed rock can also do the job! Just saying.
