I have golden saber's in every gun that I would ever use to defend my house, lol. Except my 12 ga's. Great round IMO.

Thanks for the feedback. I got some 180 grain Golden Sabers for my XD 40, but haven't had a chance to run some through it yet.

I always carried in this manner, and will again when I go back and gety CHL. Mine expired in '98.
So you're suggesting that you should chamber one FMJ in case you have an accidental discharge, so it would be less lethal than a HP?

            I did not say chamber...

Keep in mind, this advice was from a Vietnam era Marine, who was somewhat involved in an accidental shooting in 'nam, and weather came in before they could evacuation the guy and he died. Total waste, and the guy still is bothered by this today. It made sense to me.

So, do you carry in condition butterscotch?

What's the point of carrying a firearm if one isn't in the pipe? You've only got an expensive club at that point. How much time does it take to chamber a round and how much time do you think you will have should you need to draw your weapon? You more than likely will not have enough time to draw from concealed AND rack the slide before the other person/animal is on you. Think about it.

And to keep on track with the original subject....

I carry 147gr Gold Dots in my Glock 19 and 26 (functions flawlessly in the 26), 230 gr Winchester PDX1s in my Kimber .45, and 135gr +p Short Barrel Gold Dots in my .38 snubby.

I've started getting Winchester Ranger T 124g +P. I still have Federal HST and Speer Gold Dots in the same 124g+P but the Rangers run a little cheaper and I never have any trouble finding them.

There is so much information out there that it is easy to obsess over specs and ballistic reports. Pick something that is easy to find, make sure it runs in your gun, then go from there .

Anything will work if you put the bullet into the right place; even WWB FMJ from Wal Mart.

That being said I like to carry Federal's 9BP in my HiPowers, and Winchesters RA9TA or Speers 23617 in pistols that are rated for +P loads.

Just picked up a box of 9mm +P 135GR FlexLock Hornaday Critical Duty rounds. Aside from mostly ball ammo, I haven't done much shopping around for a personal defense round in 9mm. I'll have to try out some of the suggestions made here.

Isn't all 9mm (except maybe 9x25 Dillon?) ammo short range?
