I got two of the NFA ones in a couple weeks ago and built a light weight AR22 for the kiddo and a lightweight 14.7"+FH .223/5.56 for my wife.
On the ar22 I had to shave it a bit to get the upper to fit and operate, but that I think was more a function of the cheap Chiappa upper. The AR15 had/has no issues going bang, even rapid fire with cheap ammo.

If I remember correctly Plum Crazy has stopped production, and was sold to another company who has updated the PC lower and I think that lower is the new frontier
Also http://www.gwacsarmory.com/index.html has bought the composite CAV lower/stock and will be producing those sometime soon.

plum crazy had issues ck out ar15.com or other forums
the new frontier lw15 seems pretty nice... however the lw15 are new to the scene so no long term reports yet.
there is a guy in Grand Prairie that is stocking them... for $99+tax prolly worth checking them out.
