Picked up a new LC9 today

Prolly should clarify which is which in that pic....Kel Tec PF9 (9mm) on bottom, Ruger LCP (.380) on top. PF9 and Ruger LC9 are physically almost identical in size.

Sorry if your thong got in a bunch, but I didn't feel like I was bad mouthing it. The guns work reliably and conceal well. I would trust my life to one. However, I would rather pay a little more for a Beretta Nano or M&P Shield. With that said, I don't own any of these. I go a little bigger for IWB carry and a little smaller for pocket carry.

There are quite a few subcompact 9mm's out that would be just as good but I don't understand why some people badmouth or look down on the little Kel Tec or Ruger when they work great. The Khar PM9 runs about 500-600 bucks on avg...and I could buy 2 pf9's + accessories for that price. To each their own I guess

I have heard the Kel-Tecs have gotten better with the issues they had butttttt if I am going to carry anything I want to be 100 percent sure it will fire. I just had to many issues with mine to ever own one again. I may try the LC9 but the new shield also looks very promising and compares in size to the Bersa I think. It is funny because last night I watched a few videos comparing these two and on more then one of them they had the Kel-Tec having at least one misfeed or Jam. Videos were not that old either.

I think maybe YOUR thong got wadded up there buddy...I never said I thought YOU were badmouthing anything....just said that a LOT of people do and have badmouthed them (a lot of poor reviews on the internet and Youtube). Any auto gun can have problems fresh out of the box if its not broken in, cleaned, and properly lubed and there are a lot of people out there who aren't willing to, or aren't intelligent enough to learn the ins and outs of a new gun and prep it before trying to use it.

I'm pretty comfy with the one I bought...it shoots straight and didn't malfunction at all with about 50 rounds so far. My buddy picked up a Bersa Thunder .380 2 tone for his wife for $250 BNIB. Seems like a very well made gun although we haven't taken it to the range yet. Hopefully she can handle it because she's never owned a gun before.

Just my opinion, but 50 rounds doesn't seem like much to make a firm evaluation of a firearm. I prefer to put 200-300 rounds through any gun I'm going to carry, with at least 100 or so being self defense rounds.

Bersa .380 is a pretty soft shooter so I'm sure your friend's wife will handle it fine.

I love my Bersa CC. Dry, wet, or dirty as hell from being in my pocket and never once let me down. Hell my mother poured water in her purse and forgot about it running all in the gun. Even with a little rust in the chamber it went boom. It is the best pocket gun I have found and they have been proven very reliable. I figure if I ever have to use it, it will be close range. A 380 to the face or chest will do some damage I am sure of that. All depends on where I am and what I am doing if I have anything bigger on me.

Thats all I had on me at the time. Planning to clean and lube it again and go back with another hundred or so rounds in a few days.

Good little pistols. Although beware, Dan (baylordjr) on here bought one for his wife and the thing would not fire. The culprit turned out to be some sort of media in the firing pin channel preventing it from getting a full on primer strike. To be safe if I were you I would take out the firing pin and hit the channel with some goo gone and then some rem-oil.

Perhaps Dan will chime in with what he did to fix his. He did say that now the gun is running 100% though.

You hit it dead on DOHCTR. There was some sort of fouling in the firing pin channel that would only allow a partial strike. I bought the gun NIB from a reputable dealer. I had to completely disassemble the firing pin assembly in order to get at the fouling. Due too Ruger's design this was quite difficult. However, now that that is taken care of, the gun shoots beautifully.

I just stopped by the local gun store and handled an LCP and LC9 I think for concealment I should probably get the LCP. Anyone have an LCP they want to sell to upgrade to an LC9

I should mention that I'm not buying this to go to the range and shoot a zillion rounds or anything like that just looking for a pocket carry pistol.

lol the guy gave me one (not sure what it was) and said "this is a good pocket pistol" I put it in my pocket and if I wouldn't have had on a belt my pants would have fallen off. sonofabitch was heavy!

I like the idea of a bigger caliber pistol but .380 is enough to get the point across

right now if I feel the need to carry something with me when doing a CL deal or something I just carry a little 25. Makes me feel better about meeting up with someone for stuff like that and the wife feels a TON better knowing I have something on me too.
