The reason I like it is because I'm usually shooting with experienced hunters. Most of the time low fliers or easy picks will go down. I find a much better niche getting the birds others miss, or the high fliers. Last season I nailed a white tip about 80 yards out about 20' off the ground, I almost didn't even try. The range can be impressive.

I'm the exact opposite, especially if I dont have a dog. If I cant shoot them and they dont fall with in a few yards of me I wont shoot. Of course, I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to the dove hunting

I've never dove hunted with a dog - I plan on buying one soon though. I've never lost a bird - once I fall one I keep my eye on it's land until I'm there. I really, really hate it when someone loses a bird.

80 yards!! I think I need to learn me some ballistics regarding chokes and doves and dove load. I knew you could take them further out using a full choke but wouldn't have thought that far. I mainly use a modified choke. I always seem to have difficulty figuring out how much to lead.

If you *think* you are leading enough, lead just a little more. Be sure to follow through.

It also depends on your shot as well, the longer the range, the bigger the shot you need.
