Our lease manager was a poor communicator with the land owner and essentially gave us 2 weeks notice to come up with the next year's dues. On top of that, the land owner wanted the money by the end of January when we paid in April last year... which means we would have paid for four months for nothing. So with the short notice, and "losing" 4 months of money, me and 3 others said to hell with it.
Bow hunting turkeys... good luck... it isn't easy.

That's the point cj. Bow hunting anything besides rabits isn't easy.

I'm sure I am very ignorant to the subject. But I'm also very curious. What the hell makes turkeys so hard to kill? The only ones I've ever been around were at my uncles, but he raised a few at a time so they were pretty tame. They are probably the ugliest creature I've ever seen up close though.

Many things make them difficult to hunt. The hardest animals are the ones with good eye sight. Turkeys see REALLY well. You also have to call them in, which for some people can be difficult - especially when both of these are combined. With bow hunting you have to call them in even further, and you have to be in a good spot to not be seen while you raise your bow.
As an example, last season I popped out 1200 yards away from a group of hens and toms in a field. Both me and Noel were wearing camo and they spotted us from that far away. We crept up behind the tree line and they were gone by the time we got there. I have a video of it I should post.

DAMN, 1200 yds. That is crazy. I wasn't aware that they could see that well.

This is true. A little easier early season when they are still chasing hens. Once they pare up its hard to get them to come out. Even when they are answering the hen call.
Shoot. I can nail turkey all day long with my bow.
I only saw 2 tom's this weekend and I never got a shot on them. One of them was a big SOB too.
I have to find humor is scoffing at the ease of hunting turkeys with a bow followed in the same post by the failure/difficulty of shooting turkeys.
What makes me interested in bow hunting turkeys is the extended season. But I have a feeling I'd have my 1187 right next to me in any situation.

Here is the video. We spotted a large group of turkeys on the lease. We are approx 1200 yards away right against the tree line. Looks like a dozen or so hens, and two toms. They saw us. I apologize for the quality - it's difficult to film holding a cell phone up to a pair of big binoculars wearing gloves. Took me a couple tries to get it focused.
