  • lets see everyone's B.O.B

I'm going to put a 5 day bug out bag together and I want to see what everyone's rig's looks like. I'm thinking about getting a ModGear pack( cheaper than dirt has them for $70). In it will be a glock 19 with at least 200 rounds, shirts, underwear, food, matches, flashlight, batteries, survival knife, first aid, etc. What does everyone else have?

Develop a comprehensive strategy for getting clean water. That will be your number one priority in a survival situation.

Right now we have 4-5 days of freeze dried food, a small hand saw, machete, couple knives, first aid kit, emergency blankets, panchos, crankable flashlight/radio, a couple of different firestarters, water purification tablets, a life straw, and a 9mm 1911 with a few hundred rounds of ammo. We only started collecting things a few months ago, the GF is prepping for civil unrest, I am prepping for zombies!

I live on the 18th floor of a high rise down town, so basically I am fucked if there is a disaster that would require "bugging out".

I would probably just get with the other residents an try to fortify the building. Luckily I have almost all of my guns and a shit ton of ammo in my loft that I could distribute to the willing and able.

EDIT: and after that I have a small supply of water treatment chemicals. I think about 25gal worth.

Maybe, but until then I have enough hooch to keep me drunk off my ass until either shit normalizes or I die in said fire.

Theres is no bugging out of the DFW, unless you live on the edges and are so prepared that you can leave on the drop of a dime.

If the conditions existed that required a bug out the metro, its infrastructure would collapse since there would be up to 6mil people trying to flee, and the dfw metro has aging roadways that cant handle its current traffic flow (a minor accident can result an a hour long delay )

Then add in the just a minimal amount of rioting, looting, and anarchistic behavior and there really wont be any traffic flow.

That is how I have always thought It would play out.

My only real hope would be to either fortify my building or get to my airplane hanger in Denton and fly to my family's lakehouse on the end of a peninsula that has one road in and is an eight of a mile wide at its narrowest. The house is stocked with plenty of food, guns, fishing gear, gas, vehicles, etc.

Alternately my building gets set on fire and I die, or a die on the way to the airplane hanger.

Looks like a purse my grandma would carry. No security whatsoever. No way I'd want that kind of weight on one shoulder especially for long periods of time. You'd be more susceptible of scavengers/unprepared/desperate getting that off you as well. Backpack and holster would be my choice. That way if it is stolen I can at least remain armed whereas if that purse is stolen you're screwed and may get shot with your own weapon.

I have the usual gear: Water purif tablets, coffee filters, 9mm, .45, .40, .357 each with over 800 rounds boxed and ready. LED flashlights with spare batt's, knifes for skinning and defense, fire starter gel and matches/lighters, 3 days food/water. I have 3 mo's food/water for home. tent, propane and small stove, fishing gear...hell there's too much to list. I have 15k acre property to bug out to (not mine but I'm allowed on it).

right now I am not planning to bug out unless absolutely necessary
course I live in the burbs, so bugging out would be really hard until shit dies down a little
when i buy some property worth bailing to , then it might be worth a BOB
my plan is avoid all people, have enough, and only allow family and friends that make it to my location in. Then keeping defensive posturing 24/7

To me... bugging out is so popular plan, but I don't see why unless you live in an apartment or similar.

In DFW , the only good reason to bail would likely be nuclear or similar. We are in a good place if SHTF . little natural disasters, etc.
