I recently purchased a Rock Island Armory 1911 and I am looking to change the grips on it and maybe look into some other upgrades, does anyone have any suggestions on what improvements should be looked at first? Also are the grips for those mostly all the same, I see a few differences as far as beveled or magwell but I assume the shape on them are all the same other than that. Maybe pics of yours if you've changed some things?

I have three 1911's and the first thing I always do is throw out the factory mags and replace them with Wilson 8 round magazines (47D's?). Don't care for those grips but to each his own. On my new Kimber I'm really digging the wood grips and might get another set to replace the factory rubber grips on my Custom Classic II.

I have two of those hogue overmold grips if anyone is interested. For a full frame 1911."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
