I always have this discussion with my mom (who is extremely anti-gun). My position is that I don't like the idea of getting into a gun fight. A person that looks to get into one is a fool, and anyone that isn't scared of getting shot at, is an even bigger fool. I just think that there are some situations where the other party doesn't give you a choice in the matter, and you're going to end up shooting at each other to settle it. If that happens, I won't be losing that fight for lack of equipment to shoot back with.

Maybe they thought it would be more believable to everyone if they said it happened in Texas? The story just reassures that my grandfathers generation is the greatest generation this country has seen.

In today's media war against them they would be dehumanized and painted to be anti-American terrorists and criminals. That way when they are squashed they will have the backing of the ill-informed.

There are several cases of just that happening when people have stood up against what they thought was wrongful treatment by our own government.

You could be right, But I really don't think so. No authority is going to stand up to an entire town/city hell bent on stopping corruption. They do not have the resources. And if the people do it quickly enough, no reserve will get there in time to stop it, because it will be over before they can get mobilized. Assuming the people go and get things done and not sit around playing tritely winks while back up is on the way.
