  • Gatco knife sharpening kit

Is the mother fucking shit. Why did i wait so long to get one of these.

I've had a set of stones that ive used for ages, but with angle being good on every pull/push of the stone.

I took a knife that was my grandmothers that was basically a butter knife.
It said fillet on it, but its a good 30-40 years old. You can shave with it now and it only took a minute or two.

Buy one guys it's worth the 50 bucks.

I've been using a Lansky brand kit that looks almost identicle to this one. Uses a clamp and guide rods to get a consistant angle.
One thing I do is mark the knife edge with a sharpie marker to see how the stone contacts the blade at different angle settings.

I just like how easy it is to get the edge you want with the preset angles.

Does the lansky do serrated? Mine does. Ill be trying your marker trick.

Yes. My kit didn't come with the stones for serrated but I bought them seperatly.

I have one and it will get a knife crazy sharp. The other day I was opening a case of water for my wife. I ran the knife across the top cutting the plastic wrap. She grabbed one and all was well. 30 minutes later she goes in the kitchen and ask why is there water all over the counter where the case of water was still sitting. Turns out I cut through 4 water bottles lol. The funny thing is I wasn't even pressing hard. Just one quick motion to cut the plastic wrap. That's how sharp my knife is. I carry my kit with me on the train and any time I'm stopped and board I bust it out and get to work.

I've got just about every knife in the house razor sharp now haha.

I want to get the super fine ceramic hone they sell. Its not needed really unless you want surgical sharp

I use the Lansky kit as well, and this design of knife sharpening kit is definitely the way to go. Be sure and get the clamp for either kit guys. With it you have four different degrees of edge to choose from, depending on if it's a 'utility' knife or 'kitchen' knife...
