No it's a combination of the 2, but bullet design is a factor as well up to a certain weight the SD of smaller lighter spitzer type bullets are greater than the pistol bullet type. SD is one thing that directly relates to penetration the higher the SD and BC the more retained velocity which enhances overall penetration providing the bullet design is up to the task.

SD has nothing to do with the shape of a bullet. BC has everything to do with the shape of a bullet.

So are you telling me that a larger bullet with similar SD will do less damage than a smaller, lighter and faster bullet, even if the energy numbers are similar?

I don't buy your theory that velocity will make up for a lack of energy. Velocity is vital to the development of energy, but velocity alone doesn't count for much.

Ultimately, you're dealing with Semi auto pistol levels of energy, but with tiny bullets. Tiny bullets do well against thin skinned game, and larger bullets tend to do just about everything else better. (We're talking pistol range here). If you want a cool gun that costs an assload, and costs a lot to feed, but develops ~500ft /lbs, then jump on it. It is a nice gun.

]SD has nothing to do with the shape of a bullet. BC has everything to do with the shape of a bullet.

No BC has to do with the bullets ability to overcome air resistance, SD is the ability to penetrate, higher SD which is usually an small point until a very high grain weight of bullet is reached.

Velocity one will make up when bullets are up to the task seen it plenty of times when using a 22-250 on animals with a partition the damage is devastating. The closest in comparison is a 300 win mag which is moving within 200fps of the 250 but with 3 times more bullet weight only difference is entrance and exit hole diameters.

We bought and resold 5000 rounds in the past 6 months along with selling both of my FiveseveNs

should outperform a 22 hornet especially with a short barrel or a wheelgun (or both as in a Taurus Raging Hornet).
