I personally think all AKs are garbage, and in my opinion they are only good just to throw cheap ammo down range.

Buy a cheap one that you like and a few mags. Have fun with it.

Everyone says theyll use a Saiga for hunting and almost none of them do. Most people I know who hunt use bolt guns

I would recommend a Saiga. They are cheaper, better built, and better suited for hunting. MGS has them for under $400.

Dont get caught up in the tacticool aspect of it. You said you wanted an AK to hunt hogs with, so go get a saiga for super cheap and get to it. They are russian made, have a bolt hold open, and a great trigger (for an AK variant).

They also look more like a traditional hunting rifle and come with a scope mount on the side of the receiver.

This. It's also important to note that they get imported in as a complete gun, and not as parts kits. OP, if you're not aware of the difference yet, it's that so-called, "assault weapons," are only importable, once the barrel and receiver are destroyed, so they're imported as parts kits. After that, they have to have a US barrel and US receiver. That shouldn't affect anything, but somehow the idiotic half-apes at Century get ahold of the vast majority of these parts kits, and flood the market with shitty AK's. Do yourself a favor, and get a Saiga. You're not going to find a better deal, and if you shell out the money to convert it to AK furniture, you're still not likely to be out anymore than you would be for a crappy Century AK. If you don't want to convert it yourself, Steve over at MGS had some already converted the last time I was in there, and if he doesn't, I bet he can get them quick.

I'm trying to understand the first part of your post. Saiga's do not fall under this assault rifle ban because it's imported as a sporting rifle (trigger location)? If that's correct, then I'm guessing that's why the Saiga's are capable of retaining their factory reciever and barrel?

Yes. I'm sorry. Saigas are imported intact, because they don't have the, "evil features," of other AK's.
