A lot of elitism in here regarding handguns.
FWIW..I have a Sigma .40 and there is nothing wrong with it. Some people don't like the heavy pull, which is easily rectified. I haven't had a single issue with it and have put many boxes of cheap Hornady and Winchester range ammo through it. No FTF/FTE issues. Good capacity. It's not as accurate as my Ruger LCP or the old Glock 19 I had, but it's still been a solid gun. It's affordable and it's reliable. There is a market for budget friendly handguns. Not everybody is going to start out with a $900 SigComment

Oh my god that trigger pull on my old sigma was bad! Took it to the range and had no grouping. None at all lol. It looked like a pattern from a shotgun.. I did the DIY trigger fix where you remove the pig tail and small spring and reduced the 9 lb trigger to about 5-6 lbs and it shot like a new gun. A heavy trigger can RAPE your accuracy for new shooters.

Jeremy, I hate to say it but it sounds like you settled on the first thing you found and that you could buy. Instead of putting more money into trying to make that work for you, sell the gun, and save the money till you can buy something that fits you better. Not sure how hard you were looking at the gun show, but you could have taken home an EAA Witness carry or compact for $299 from the last gun show. For the money, you would have gotten a much better gun. I was really close to picking one up for that price, but I've got a move coming up that I have to pay for.
