Its a LED in it, so the only thing limiting you is battery life.

A New 512 is like 400 bucks, so most people sell used ones for 300-350

Trial fit it to your rifle before you buy it. Except for a flat top AR most rifles go from having a cheek weld to having a chin weld when using an EoTech.

Never pay more than $300 for a used EOTech 512. I've bought several for $250.

It's not a LED in it. It's actually a laser.

Battery life on them sucks, and they are kinda weighty. I wound up selling mine off and buying a microdot for weight savings and battery life.

By sucks he means 1500 hours. So unless you leave it on it's highest setting for 2 months, it'll be plenty.

I had an older EOTECH that ran on the dreaded N-type batteries so battery life sucked on that one I always kept an extra set of Ns on hand for when the sight would die.

Didn't know they had upgraded their battery life that much. If 1500 hours is the new battery life I'd change my tune on the sight a little bit. I still think it weighs too much but that's going to be a personal thing and subjective.

It's the old version, just new batteries. When you use Lithium batteries it lasts about 1500 hours. Ni-Cad batteries have a substantially lower life with constant small current pull when compared to Lithium.

My Eotech uses AA Batteries. Took like THREE YEARS of use to finally have to change the batteries.

Here's my opinion. Don't bother spending the money on them. I can see my 512 non-nightvision perfectly fine with nightvision. It goes low enough to not blind you.

I just discovered yesterday that they can last longer than two months. The last time I shot the ar was over 3 months ago, I pulled it today to clean it, and my eotech was on, battery was low since it was on the medium setting. Which means it has clocked about 2000 hours on. Oh and now all my guns are clean
