  • S&W M&P's?

Anyone own one before? How do they compare to Glock's and XD's? Just curious, I've seen CDNN advertising them for fairly cheap prices and might try one out. I've seen them listed right around the $400 range brand new depending on the model and caliber and thought it's a pretty good deal as long as it isn't a complete piece of shit like the Sigma's were.

Much better than the sigmas. Very comparable to the xd, but neither are quite as durable as glock.

Like Adam said they are basically S&W's version of the XD. Good guns for the money.

My gf carries the 9mm compact version of it. I am not fond of the trigger. It feels like there are seven or eight clicks before it fires. M&P fans always mention a specific trigger kit for it.

The grip is more rounded compared to the Glock and XD so it's definitely a comfort issue.

The ATF gave S&W a contract for the M&P, along with Glock. Tells me they're in the same league.

Check out quantico tactical in kileen, think they have better pricing

the m&p in .40 and .45 are good to go, the 9mm full size ones have had reported accuracy issues but not sure how widespread it is. I had one on backorder but the company went out of business so I took it as a sign it wasn't meant to be

They are similar but the m&p have a proven track record of breaking parts more often than glocks. Ergonomically they are worlds apart, and would be a far better deciding factor than %95 bullet proof or %98 bullet proof

Also, google the thing about the M&P mags exploding. From what I gather, the retaining pin that holds the baseplate is quite shallow. A good forward smack on the base of the magazine will send the baseplate, spring, follower and all your ammo out of the magazine.

I had an M&P 40 full size before and I liked it a lot. I ended up selling it though.
I have an M&P 40C now, and it is also excellent. Very accurate for a compact, and very manageable recoil-wise.
I never had an issue with the trigger on either one being bad enough for me to complain about. I squeeze, they go bang. No problem.

We switched from SIG 226 to the M&P 40's two years ago and I am not a fan. I liked the Glocks I have shot better but prefer SIG to all of them. I do like a few of the features on the M&P but overall not a fan.

Shot a full size 9 today, felt good in the hand but didn't care for how the trigger is shaped

Thanks for the info guys. Just curious. I'm sorta looking for a compact 9mm and liked what I saw them priced for by CDNN. Guess I should take a closer look at them to see how the ergonomics are.

The S&W M&P 9mm compact was my first concealed carry weapon. The interchangeable backstraps helped alleviate most of the grip comfort issues stemming from the rounded grip. It concealed well, and was a decent shooter once I got used to the trigger. There is a pretty good trigger kit out for them now, but the name escapes me.

All in all, good damn guns for the money. They come standard with no safety, but can be ordered with a 1911-esque thumb safety.

I like mine. Shoots any ammo I feed it, Never jammed up.

I have one in .40 S&W and have had 0 problems with it. I have an apex trigger kit in it and it shoots great.
