I'm not going to get into which is better argument...

One thing I do like about mine, is I get to pretend like I'm a tactical baller with cheaper things on it, before I waste too much money on the real stuff with the regular AR.

I bought mine for my boy when he's old enough and it ended up being one of my favorite shooters - probably for the same reasons 10/22 owners shoot theirs so much. (Cost...etc) Anyway, my though was he'd get familiar with the iron sights, feel of it - basic AR operations (not exact, but close).

I'm probably going to have to buy him another or a 10/22 though, cause I like it too much to give up now - he can get it when I'm dead.

I will say that my iron sighted 10/22 is in the woods more than my 5.56 ar.

When I'm out walking my pasture scouting or just exploring my 10/22 is always with me.

Never know when a critter will POP out along the river. Got a bobcat with my 308 a few weeks ago.

I think he means the general term as it's quicker to get on target/point of aim is more natural.

I know everybody seems to like 10/22s but I hated mine. It was just a factory stainless/synthetic but it had a shit trigger and was not accurate at all so I got rid of it. I may get another one used some day that somebody has already sank all the money into but I couldn't see spending all that money on a stock, barrel, and trigger for a $200 rifle to make that one shoot better.

I was in the same boat. I picked up a 10/22 carbine (wood stock, barrel band, etc) and while it was fun for a mag or two, the shit trigger and inconsistent accuracy were annoying. Spend a couple bucks on it and its a whole new gun (at least it feels like it). I love mine now and its as fun as any gun I own.

Yeah, all I know that have the 10/22 replaced the trigger and love it. Well, they love it before hand too. Great gun for the money, they could probably charge more for them too and still sell. (Well, places like Cabelas does just that)

I sold mine and bought a Savage 93 BRJ in .22 WMR instead. Easy to shoot 1 hole groups at 50 yards and does pretty well at 100 if it's not windy too. Of course it's a bolt gun and not a semi but I have more fun with it just because it's so accurate. Like I said I'll probably buy a used 10/22 in the future that someone has already done up.

Sounds fun too. I really enjoy just shooting mine offhand and doing some plinking. Bolt action really doesn't promote things like that

Apples to oranges... $0.29 per round for .17 isn't nearly as cost effective as .22LR. Might as well get an AR and start reloading at that price...
