Rifle for smiting the unholy

This is just awesome. Rifle is an 1868 Remington rolling block with Saint Peter's Keys of Heaven stamped on it (a sign of the gun being used by the Papal States Gendarmery). As many of you know I am an absolute history nerd and this is one hell of a curio.

What gun could be better for smiting heathens, killing the unholy, and combating supernatural creatures?

Then you shoot the first one from several hundred yards away, reload, and then shoot the second one.

The advantage of a firearm over say, an axe is that it can kill stuff from far away.
