Looking to buy a 9mm

So my buddy is looking to sell me one of his 9mm and has a few to choose from. Does anyone have any experience with the following:

Sig 228 and 225
Kahr P9
S&W 908 and 6906
Ruger P95

Out of those guns what would be a good target/fun gun to have?

I've got a P95. It works well enough. Pull the trigger, it goes bang. It's nothing fancy.

Out of those, the Sig 228 if the price is right.

Cant go wrong with any of those, but I'd take the 228 out of the bunch. I really like the trigger on those.

I wouldn't do the Kahr, those are a long pull DAO so not exactly the best range gun IMHO. But the Smiths can be found relatively cheap. I'm sure same goes for the Ruger, but never had a change to try one out.

Hands down the sig if the price is right. However I have a Kahr CW9 (cheaper version of the P9) and while the trigger pull takes some getting used to it runs great. Very good size for a conceal carry gun if you are looking for one.

Absolutely, Kahr has one of the smoothest DA semi auto trigger pulls I have felt. If you're looking for something to get used to at the range and then carry at a later date by all means look into the Kahr. But if its gonna strictly be a range gun, I think the small stature and long pull will get old fast just plinking/paper punching.

*edit* If you decide not to get the Sig, is he still interested in selling? I've been trying to find a nice 228

Ruger makes great cowboy action revolvers, but their autos leave a lot to be desired IMO. I have found that the Ruger autos feel loosely fitted and clunky. While they may run fine, I just don't like them.

The S&Ws might be okay as long as they are not the Sigma line.

Kahr makes an outstanding weapon. Every Kahr I have shot has been superb.

Just like what almost everyone else is saying, one of the Sigs would be the best choice if the price is right.

wide variety in price there, sig 228 prob best range/target pistol there, but also the most exp. the smiths and rugers are ok guns and should be about half the price of the sig, the kahr is a great concealed carry gun, not so much for target shooting. Oh and the sig 225 is a good pistol,should be quite abit cheaper than the 228 also,but holds less rounds.

I have found that the Ruger autos feel loosely fitted and clunky.

I had a P95 as my first gun and I completely agree with this. Great gun to learn on and shoot, but it felt very loose in its action, and clunky.

S&W 6946 (smaller version of the 6906) in SS. It's a heavy mother, but it's an all metal frame. Shoots +P too.

Out of those, I've only had a P228 and the P95. I loved the P228 (felt great, shot great; that's the gun I qualified for my CHL with), and the P95 was meh.
