The gun range was there first. That should be it, done deal. But probably not, with how fuck up this country is getting.

Obviously its a bit different but reminds me of airports. People who live about them complain all the time. Piss and moan piss and moan and its like it was there way before you and you paid less for your house for a reason. WE used to get this guy who complained all the time about our flight training, my boss offered to buy his house. He passed and called daily to gripe.

Kind of like the people who built houses out by the race tracks in Kennedale. Even though all 3 of the tracks were there first the whinning people got the curfews and noise restrictions put on them. Stupid, if you want peace and quiet don't build a house by a race track or three!

It seems like they can still be shut down if they are not operating safely.

Not sure I agree, as it is seemingly impossible to personally oversee each and every discharge. If you've not been to that range, it is usually packed on the weekends, and some evenings.

Maybe more so too many idiots behind the trigger...

They need to design the range in a way that they can't fire out of it. Stupid idiots doing stupid stuff is still their responsibility.

You mean like turning it into an indoor range?

                            X2

They need to put some serious thought into upgrades. I don't want to see them shutdown and agree with laws that protect ranges from noise complaints, rezoning, etc. However they need to keep bullets from leaving their property.

The latest article I found shows a picture that appears to be aprox .30 caliber FMJ bullet found inside a house. FMJ is not allowed on that rifle range.

No, you put up wooden barriers in front of the shooters that do not allow people to fire over the berm.
