I bought it because of the price. If it had been any night guard but the .357 for the same price, I'd have bought it just the same. The upside to a 10mm revolver is, I can run .40 in it if I want to.

Never thought about it that way (running the .40 S&W). How does the 10mm compare to the .357 round? Guess it depends on the load but I'm pretty sure they are close. How many rounds does it hold and how difficult is it to carry the moon clips and load it that way? Never handled a revolver that way and was curious as to how the rounds can be carried and loaded quickly.

It should be mentioned that manufacturers use different cylinder diameters between themselves. Colt usually has tighter cylinders compared to S&W, for instance. Some cases will stick in one revolver, and loose in another. I'm assuming what you're saying is the cases are sticking once fired? Are you sure the cases are not rupturing? Was the cylinder clean? Sometimes unburnt powder will remain and cause the cases to stick.

Yes, the cases are sticking and causing the cylinder to get stuck. The gun was clean every time and I have not had this issue with other brands of ammo. I talked to a guy yesterday that had the same issue with his 686 and Monarch .357 mag ammo.

I don't know how it compares to the .357. I assume it's pretty similar, but it ought to be able to be loaded pretty hot either way. Apparently the gun to have, though, is the 610 in stainless. Guys are reaming the cylinders and running 10mm magnum, which is almost 1/4" longer than 10mm. They're seeing crazy speeds out of 6" barreled guns, like 2300fps. It holds 6 rounds, and the moon clips are a dream. If I wanted to carry another revolver, and I wanted to carry more than a cylinder's worth, my gun would get moon clipped.

All in all, I'll take my S&W 686, but the 10mm and the .357 Magnum are pretty neck and neck.

Picked up today, was going to go with a 642 but everything I read says the trigger on this is much better, which I need for the lady since it's "her" at home gun

Justin, just go buy a taurus model 44 with a 4" barrel and be done with it. I got one last year as a bonus tax return purchase and LOVE it! Ammo is expensive but it is a great conversation piece at the range...if they let me shoot it. Seems the concussion bothers some range pussies with cheap ear protection. Barrel is compensated and is damn accurate. fun to have friends try to one hand it like Dirty Harry and complain about their wrists afterward.

Shop smart and you can get them well under retail in the $400 range or less if pre-owned.

WTF is wrong with me? I actually bought a S&W 310 night guard. It's got a Trijicon front sight, and a scandium frame, which seems pointless because it's got a 2.5" barrel and it's chambered in 10mm. Whatever. Range report forthcoming!

Do you still have the pistol and how did it do at the range?
