  • XD9 Tactical Mods

    From XDGunParts.com

    Extended slide release
    Oversized magazine release
    Chrome take down lever
    Chrome chambered round indicator

    Factory (sort of)

    mods down

Literally took 15 minutes to swap these parts out. I love the slide release and magazine release....the rest were just for looks.

Next up is the trigger kit install; I just ran out of time tonight.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I see a future for you in gunsmithing.

You and CJ should open a shop.

I like it, after the holidays I need to do this with my .40 and my wife's 9mm.
Especially if it's that cheap, keep us updated on the trigger job.

So you're the guy who bought the last extended slide release.

Why yes, yes y'all should. I'll be your first customer with this match trigger needing to be installed into my XD. Sanding...Filing.... Not as drop-in as I thought it was going to be.

If there was an XD GTG, I'd be there for sure.

So how is modding an XD compared to a Glock? Are the prices on the parts higher as well? Very tasteful mods. Whenever I get another XD that will have to be some of the first things I do as well.

I am going to tackle the trigger this afternoon.

Cool. I'll stay tuned to this thread and see if this is something I'm willing to try or just have a competent smith do.

With the help of youtube and 123powerriver videos I was able to install and fit the trigger with little to no problems. Of course the first time is always a bitch but I can completely take down this pistol to the bare frame and a bucket of parts then reassemble in a matter of minutes. Fitting a travel stop on the trigger is another story though. Maybe an extra 30 minutes to fit the trigger.

Trigger is awesome and with a side by side of the same 5" XD there is a world of difference. I hear the range calling me.

I've watched those videos. Seeing that some parts like the sear and over travel stop had to be fitted, I've figured it would be best to have someone more qualified do the work. I'm now thinking I gonna try this with some help of a friend. To start, I know I'll need some punches. I heard in the video a 3.5 and 4mm. Not sure where I'll find those locally, but I'll drive around till I do.

Get a basic punch set from anywhere just cause every man should own one anyway.

If you want, I can either do it for you, help you do it or show you how and let you do all the work yourself. The gun will only go back together one way and the only way it won't work is if not enough material came off the trigger. The trigger safety lever took only 3-5 swipes of a file. I did not do the sear (need to order) but using a true flat surface file would only take a couple seconds also.

I spent more time pulling the trigger, filling down, reinstall and test...repeat times 15 at least. Better take too little at a time though. The dremel beat using a file any day of the week also.

I just took it for a spin at the range and it is a must do.

This is about where I thought to myself "shit, what have I done now?" I am sure my wife who was doing dishes thought the same thing but she knew better to keep her yap shut. In the end I won and the wife was glad to see me move the mess out of her kitchen.

New trigger with adjustable (read: get out the fitting tools) stop. You can get a good look at the minor trigger difference from the original in the pic above.
