  • So lets talk 10/22's again

I now have the itch to buy and modify one since .22 is super cheap and fun to shoot. Now this is goofy but i want it to be tacti"cool"

black furniture, high capacity mag, red dot scope etc...

Can these just be built from the ground up like ar's or do you have to stop in at a gun store, strip it down and start from square 1?
any websites to point me in the right direction and any 10/22 porn yall wanna post up for me to give me a base platform...

Buy one new and then get the stuff to convert it online or at one of the bi-weekly gun shows locally. Also do a search there are a few threads about them here with complete ones already done up in several different fashions.

I have a brand new Volquartsen bolt release and target hammer pack that I will sell for 40 if you would like it. I changed plans on the 22 I was going to build.

I pieced mine together with used parts from either AR15.com or Rimfirecentral. I got a stock 10/22 carbine from Dicks for $169, picked up a used Tactical solutions barrel (threaded and fluted) and got a used Hogue stock in green (I dig the contrast instead of black). I just recently purchased an NCStar holosight for it and cant wait to go plink some with it. My next mod will be adding a hornet trigger group.

Check out Rimfirecentral for 10/22 porn. But for building from the ground up, you'll need a VQ receiver and those are SPENDY!!! You're better off buying a bargain basement 10/22 and selling off the spare parts for what you can manage

Not true there are a ton of good receivers out there for a fair price.

Shit really? I haven't seen a huge selection, but glad I was corrected on that. I wanna build another and have basically been limiting myself to finding a used 10/22 beater to build up

I personally would pick up a functioning rifle rather than build one, much cheaper.

As long as youre not super picky, then I agree. Very good deals to be had on built guns.

What exactly is the point for an aftermarket receiver? Not only do they come with a rail, if you absolutely must have a picatinny, you can bolt one on.

better manufacturing, exclusivity, non ruger product, tons more $$

So in essence no real advantage. I mean unless its gonna be a $1000+ competition rifle.
