So I've wanted an AR for awhile but don't feel like dropping a grand for something I really don't need. Came across this a few days ago and was thinking of starting to look for one after Christmas.

Only negatives I've seen is that it doesn't have a dust cover or a forward assist. Would just be used at the range for now. I would "like" to get into shooting competitions in the future but my schedule probably isn't going to allow that for another few years.

    Good review here

The most popular and widely respected voice in America for your gun rights, breaking 2nd Amendment news, and everything else you need to know as a gun owner...

I can get it for 535 already (when in stock at least) but would wait until they running a promotion and hope to get it for under 500 or with extra mags.

    Thoughts?

Can at least the FA be added? I'd rather have an AR with the FA. At least in my experience they do come in handy.

Generally the dust cover is pointless - until your walking around in a mess and want to cover up the huge hole.

For 500-700, you should easily be able to get a decent AR, with all the basic features - built if you shop around.

Pretty sure I would have to swap uppers for that.

Actually leaning towards just getting the M&P 15-22 now, hah. Turns out my range only allows handguns and .22 rifles. Plus I never realized how dirt cheap .22 ammo is and would work out pretty good for a plinker

I like the M&P 15-22 a lot. Especially if you like the feel of an AR type weapon it fits right in. There are other great 22s, but that is a good one.

Could just get a .22 conversion for the AR.

I just bought this gun and I really like it so I would consider if you are looking at doing .22

Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discount firearms, parts to build your next gun and more.

they just had it on sale for 460 so I jumped on it the same gun on CMMG web site is 669.
it has functioning foward assist and dust cover feels nice and solid.
