Imagine that on a headstone or the headstone of a relative. Nah, for a total investment of $150+/- you can always tear up the Utah non-resident CHL if it becomes a worthless piece of paper. Cheap insurance.
This is not directed AT you cad just at the logic of waiting.
I for one was able to afford the TX CHL and had the time on hand to take the course. Even with that said I am going to spend the extra money and take a Utah non-resident CHL and I will apply for it also. I figure it is a statement of taking full benefit of my rights at this time before someone takes them from me.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Just to bring this to the top....
I took the Utah CHL yesterday here on base in Afghanistan. 3hrs and mostly coverered gun safety, nomenclature and cleaning. Not a whole lot of time was spent on actual concealed carry and maybe 15 minutes on use of deadly force. But hey I got my stamp and signature so I can send my paperwork off in a few days.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

You apparently, got the CHL for dummies fast track class. I think he just tries to make it as fast an convenient for you guys as possible. However, it sounds like you didn't learn a damn thing. I came out of my Utah CHL class with several pages of notes (trying to keep up with stuff discussed outside of the scope of the curriculum) and reference materials on all the statues for Texas/Utah. And I learned about 5x more than I was expecting considering the shorter length of actual class time vs. Texas CHL.Last edited by LS1Goat; 03-08-2011, 01:57 AM.

Federal facilities and schools. Places of worship. Castle Doctrine. Discussion on no obligation to retreat. And how much caution and restraint you should exercise regarding Third Party Intervention.

He was a great instructor and very good but the information was limited. We covered shit like weaver stances and SA vs DA stuff.....not what I expected. I was suprised though by the amount of soldiers and airmen in attendence that had never shot the M9 pistol. lol One dumbass even said "so like in the movies when they are still moving and going for a gun can you still stand above them and shoot them in the face?" Spc Thug Life, no you can not.
Remember I also took the Texas CHL and I would even sit through either again when I come home for my wife when she gets her's.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

IF you are a TEXAS RESIDENT, get a Texas CHL.
Many states now do NOT RECOGNIZE NON RESIDENT CHLs. That means if you go to lets say "New Mexico", it will recognize your Texas CHL with your Texas DL. But they WILL NOT Recognize your Out of State CHL with your Texas Resident DL. (You then get arrested and taken to jail for unlawful carry).
Now note, I do not know if New Mexico has a law against non-resident license, I used it as a example, but I DO KNOW some states do this.
