Why is a wilson combat so damned expensive?

It's a hand built, ultra low production gun that has no equal its class.

The AMT is way better than the DE.

I don't know if the 50AE is a different frame/grip size than the 45WM, but it shouldn't be.

It's not a challenge, it's an m80 going off in your hand. That gun is the only pistol that I have reservations about letting inexperienced shooters try.

you should try a hot .44 mag, you might reconsider. The difference is ridiculous.

See and this is my point, I have been shooting since I was 8 and of course it wasnt always a big cal but I am not new either. I figure some light loads would help me become accustomed to the action of the firearm then increase the load from there. I am in no way scared to shoot a damn gun...if anything the bigger the kick the bigger the smile even if it is painfull

I asked everyone to try to bring a 50ae to the last gtg. None made it. I shot the sw500, which was more than enough for most people, but did not shoot the 454 Casull, and after watching everyone else try to hang on to it, I'm not sure I missed much. I initially thought the challenge would be fun, but I think that round talked me out of owning one. I still want to shoot the 50ae, but want to shoot someone else's before jumping into that $1200+ gun only to find that I don't like it.

Post 230 - vids of someone and the me shooting the 500, and there is a vid on an earlier post of on of the range girls shooting the Casull. It is fairly convincing.

Well I cant see them at work...but I did see a few 500's at the gun show but just not my style for some reason. Also, the .500 round is something around 400grains where as the .454 is in the low to mid 300's.

Now you can probably load your own but I buy mine over the counter since I do not reload. I just save the brass for a rainy day...(CJ)

You can shoot .44 special out of a .44 magnum, no need to load it light, just use the original cartridge.

.44 magnum use to be just really hot .44 special, but because of pressures they lengthened the case, and now most of those guys are loading the .44 mag hot. The cartridge can definitely sustain more than the gun can. The Rugers are built like tanks and can take super hot loads that would blow your mind.

I personally do not like shooting desert eagles.

They are more manageable in 44 or 357 magnum (or even .41), but .50ae is just painful.

I wear big ass gloves when I shoot my desert eagle.

And then they lengthened the .44 Magnum case a little more and got the .445 SuperMag. It's nuts, but I'm not sure if it's quite as nuts as Casull. Probably not.

                            • You know I dont even plan on shooting the .454 all that often. Two reasons I want one:

                              1. I want a big fucking gun and I like the way the Raging Bull is designed.
                              2. I want a big ol' bang to put a smile on my face.

I have become tired of shooting my .45. I shot my dads S&W 44 for awhile but the same thing happend. I am really looking to change it up. Looking to get the raging bull as well as a new CZ or P30 so I have some variety.

Thought about getting an AR platform rifle as well but I still have yet to find one that I really want.

The .454 is not anywhere near as powerful as a .460 or a .500 S&W. The X Frame revolvers weigh 4+ lbs unloaded. That's a lot for a pistol.

Guns like my Ruger SRH Alaskan weigh less than 3lbs and develop 2/3 the power. The recoil is a much sharper rotation in a lighter weapon. Even the Taurus Raging Bull weighs a couple ounces over 3lbs.

You're talking about bullet weight, and that doesn't directly correlate to recoil. If you want to shoot any of these calibers, many gun ranges have dozens of guns to rent. I know that Bullet Trap in Plano has a Super Redhawk in .44 Mag and a Desert Eagle in .50 AE.

If I wanted a bigass revolver, I'd buy smith & wesson .460. You can shoot .460, .454 casull, and .45 lc. The .460 whomps the .500 soundly once you get into handloads.

The reason that my gun is such a handful is that 1. It's got custom 2 finger slick wood grips. Great for concealment, but not very easy to hold onto for some. and 2. that it weighs very little for the amount of power the round makes.
