Been to academy today and they had a remmington with a scope for 179.99 and called bass proshops and they have the same one for 169.99. Heading to cabelas right now. Any gun below 300 is in my budget. I'm just trying to get the best price even if its used.Jon

Marlin Model 60 or Ruger 10/22.
Academy has the 60 for $149.99 new and the 10/22 with wood stock for $169.99.
I personally would go with the 10/22 but you can't go wrong with either..."Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Good call on the model 60. Mine was my first rifle and it still shoots just as good as it ever did. (which is better than a factory 10/22)

That's a good idea. I'm gonna get a scope on my model 60. that wold give me something to do with it."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
