In high stress incidents, you rely on gross muscle movements and that pull is just not a natural (IMHO) movement. But lol @ that 1911 price. The price on that Python is pretty fair though.Originally posted by lincolnboyAfter watching Games of Thrones, makes me glad i was not born in those years.

Cooter - that looks like a chrome Python, they only did that for a few years in initial production, then they switched to a polished stainless. So that does have some value to it.

In my opinion that's comparable to trashing a Porsche over the door handle. All colts release like that, and their cylinder has an opposite spin, that's just the way they design their revolvers. Some (many) guns are mostly hype - the python is not one of those guns, it's quality speaks for itself, the action works like silk, and the cylinder lock up is amazing.

When your talking Colt's value comes from rarity and transitions this is a transition model from standard commercial A1 to series 70 I'd have to look through some books to see if it's true but according to the add there are only 850 of them. Low numbers along with the condition of this piece makes this price understandable. Laugh all you like Colt collectors just like any other collectors want rare and stuff no one else has that is not modified in any way. I had a detective special 1st to 2nd transition revolver that was in rough shape. No finish shot well and had original grips that brought $650 just because it was in the proper s/n range and was the transition barrel. Personally if I was in the market this price is not way out of line (again without doing a bit of research)
just an example

Bring it to the next shoot, I'll bring the Python, you can compare them and see what I'm talking about. My buddy Eddie has a 586 (blued version of the 686) which has a trigger job and hammer work, and it still isn't as good of an action as a factory python.
