You should make an Armory GTG. The last one would have had you shooting full auto .45s and suppressed everything.

i recently switched from my sigma .40 to a ruger .380 lcp for my daily ccw. so much more practical and comfortable along with being a decent little shooter. only thing i don't like about the sub-compact is the lack of capacity.

I'm not going to make any recommendations based off the information given. At least as far as a gun goes.

Just realize, you start keeping a gun in your car - you best be on the EXTREME straight and narrow. You also better start researching all the laws and such for traveling with a gun.

I know in Texas, unless you're military you can't get a CHL unless you're 21. What I don't know and it was not a 2-3 minute search - is if that age limit applies to the basic concealed travel law that Texas has in place.

I think you have a little homework to do. I know it maybe "Bad ass" to have a gun in your car, but you need to be sure to do your due diligence. Cops are not always law abiding or even know specific technicalities. lol, I won't lie, if you find the information that says...

1. No problem with having the gun at 18 (which should not be a problem)
2. No problem carrying it...
a. Concealed while traveling (which should not be a problem) Be sure to read this law as well and know it. Also know it does not apply out of TX. It's a great law IMO, but there are limitations to it.
b. At ages 18-20 (which is the important one for you)

...I'd print them and at least have them available in your car. The cop may actually check it out or ask someone as opposed to just remembering what it was 15 years ago when he went through the academy and promptly taking you to jail/giving you a ticket or whatever it is they do for those things.

Realize that, he maybe wrong but you're still going to be without a weapon, maybe getting bailed out and likely spending time/money going to court. Due diligence, printing off some papers may help you. Either way, I'm not 100% sure you - as an 18 y/o can legally conceal carry a loaded weapon in your car.

Also, remember - don't take friend's word for shit and verify dates on things you look up. There are a few people on this board (not me.) who really know what they are talking about. However, confirm everything with official sites so you're properly informed. No judge is going to accept, "Yes your honor, it was illegal. However, my research on DFWM said it was possible so I did it!"

To answer the car question, it is very simple. You must meet these four exceptions:

1) You must not be a member of a street gang
2) You must not be in commission of a crime higher then a class C
3) It must be concealed
4) You must legally be able to purchase a handgun from a retail dealer.

This would mean you can't conceal/carry the gun in your vehicle until you turn 21.

Guess I never noticed #4 given that am an old ass. Pretty well sums it up for an 18 y/o.
