Are you wanting an original, or a reproduction? They only made 9,000 of these things. Do you want it in .45 Schofield, or .45LC?

I don't think you're going to find a schofield in .45ACP, hehe. And you probably wouldn't want to deal with moon clips. .45LC is probably your best choice.

O ok, my mistake. My fear of LC (reason I bought my rough rider in 38) was the price of LC ammo. I dont/cant reload like some people **cough cough CJ**

You should definitely reload if you plan on getting some of the more unique guns. You can get them in .38 special, but in my opinion that kind of ruins the real caliber feel.

Old break-opens are always suspect in the big calibers.

For something similar you might find an H&R in 22LR, the cylinders hold about a million rounds. That would be way cheaper than 45.

Those are neat. My dad has one, it was the first gun he ever bought.

Here a question. Other the S&W 625 and taurus' 455, what other 45acp revolvers are out there? DA preferably. I know river makes a blackhawk convertible 45LC/45ACP.

If you can find one, Dan Wesson made a 460/7460 (7 designation was stainless). It chambers 45acp, 460 roland and freakin 45 win mag. Super cool. I think they only made a couple hundred, and they stopped taking orders a couple days before I tried to get one. Then they ended up as part of CZ, who gutted the wheelgun lineup. I don't really think they had a choice in the deal but it still sucks.

You can shoot the .45 Schofield in .45LC pistols and rifles. Its no different than shooting a .38 in a .357.

Looking at .45lc guns will expand your selection. Check out Cimmaron or Uberti if you want actual .45 Schofield chambered pistols.

Also don't forget 45 auto rim.

But to stick with just plain vanilla 45 for economy i think the choices are going to be limited in a wheelgun.

The wheelgun has the advantage of saving 100% of spent cases though, so with a cheap reloading setup you can turn out some reloads. A lee loader is under $40 for 45LC. They work pretty good too, I relied on one for 357 for a long time. You'll want a poly or wooden hammer, some primers bullets and powder, and you are set.

Beating! I bought one for .44 Magnum just to try, and it wasn't fun. For another $60-80 you can get a Lee Anniversary Kit, with a "real" press.
