The reality is that in a survival situation, you won't be blasting away a ton of dudes with a 75 round magazine before you are filled full of lead.

Apparently, you don't know anyone that has ever been shot at in a combat situation, have never been shot at yourself, or you don't learn very fast.

Heck you've probably never been faced with any life threatening situation at all.
Lol at your statement. I wasn't name calling, look at my post above that one. I simply said I was messing with you so take your chill pill. No one said anything about blasting anyone with a 75rd drum. If you would be trying to come take mine and my families lifestock then yes. There is no open area here where you need something longer then 100yrds. So the stoping power of a 7.62 far out weighs that of the .223.

As for your last comment and I leaving that be. I am former military and current leo.

Yes steel cased ammo is junk.

Think your steel cased ammo will hold up in SHTF conditions?

        Think again-

"PMC brass ammo and steel cased Wolf ammo kept damp for extended periods. The results are quite disturbing. While the brass ammo did see some discoloration it was fully functional. The steel cased ammo, even the lacquer coated rusted heavily and would not even chamber in the authors AR. Even in an AR the steel ammo would not chamber. It is apparent the build up of rust cause the case diameter to go out of spec to where the rounds were not chambering. I would not recommend sanding off any rust from live rounds in any situation as this may be inherently dangerous. "

There are always open areas. You aren't nearly as safe as you would like to think anywhere, which is why keeping your head down and not playing rambo is going to be the only way to last it out WTSHTF.

The stopping power of a 7.62 does outweigh a .223. But a 6.8 has the same stopping power. A 308 and 30-06 have a lot more stopping power. And both can be used from a much further distance.

Former military doesn't mean jack and neither does being an LEO. I've seen plenty of guys panic and run when something bad happens. They were in the military too. A lot of people just freeze up. That's another reason why an AK with 75 rounds isn't much other than a heavy toy to play with at the range.

Heck in WWII, most Russian troops never got off more than 5 rounds before they were dead in Stalingrad. Survival is about staying alive not about killing everyone else. You start bustin' caps in everyone you'll end up dead too and fast.

A saw a Dallas LEO stopping speeders in a school zone while a panhandler worked the same corner. Being an LEO is about revenue generation and protecting the government from the citizens. Being former military you should know that.

You can commit crimes all you want if you can't pay. Just ask any panhandler or prostitute.

I don't consider stopping middle class Americans on their daily business and giving them silly citations to generate revenue to be a dangerous job, nor do I consider it keeping anyone safe. It's just a job. And if you don't generate enough revenue then you won't have a job just like any other job.

Next thing I'll be reading how the TSA should have AKs with 75 round drums so they can keep the public safe next time that poor young lady doesn't want her breast milk irradiated too.

Do you honestly think you with an AK in your country locale has any chance of fending off a hungry, stupid (and I mean dumb), pillaging, murderous armed horde once TSHTF? Really? Because if you do, you need to put down the Kool Aid and start making movies, because that's the stuff of hollywood drama.

Sure you could take out a few of them, maybe a bunch of them, but you won't get them all. The harder you fight the more they will think you are worth killing to get your stash.

Mobility..... mobility, stealth and the ability to disappear will be the real keys to survival once TSHTF.

I know you are invincible though, and since you are bulletproof, can always hit someone in whichever eye you want with your AK at 100 yards, and you can probably kill at least 200 zombies with one 75 round drum all while puffing your stoagie, I am done with this conversation.

Heck I can't blame you though. If you didn't think you were bulletproof and invincible you'd probably pick a different line of work.

I though am a mortal man, so I obviously will never be able to convince you that there is a very slim real chance you too might be mortal.

Wow that is a broad statement right there. It is now obvious that you don't know jack. Leo is no about revenue. Small cities may use it for a form of it, however the number one purpose is to protect the citizens. You have no clue what we do every day, so keep your unjust opinion to yourself. You don't know me and don't know what I have or haven't done. I have never "ran" from a situation to leave my battle buddies. I am done arguing with someone with their head so far up their a** that they can't even see daylight.

Why in the hell would anyone have steel ammo for anything other then cheap target practice?

+1, Tony is no doubt a ninja... A ak is a great "survival weapon", just like the ar. People have been surviving off the ak for many years. For close combat situations( like a raid on your house) i will grab my ak. I would want a round that could bust through block with ease.

Tony you need to lay off the metal of honor and come to the realization that not everything is a video game.

Sometimes when folks get the jump on you, you dont have time to run and hide, you have to stand and fight. But, they wont get the jump on you because your a ninja.

Rhetorical question because I know you haven't. It's funny how you bring up the point though and then get quickly shut down, then try to turn it around as if it doesn't mean shit.

so why not build a ar in 7.62x39? Seems like the best of both worlds.

only if you go gas piston....then you might have the best. The AR platform will give you the best options in sight radius or optics. But if you 7.62 anything why not just go full tilt with 7.62x51 (.308)?

I will be sticking with my AR's in 5.56/.223
