New Liberty Safe

I finally stepped up and bought a REAL safe. Just picked up a Liberty (Cabella's) Signature Series 35 gun safe. 60 minute fire rating, built in door pockets with cool pack, electronic lock, 1.25" door bolts, 11ga steel.

After going back and forth from their Signature to the Ambassador line, I picked this one. Lucky for me it was on sale already and they did not have any others besides the floor model; another savings. $1900 and I got it for $1570. That covers the taxes and delivery at least.

Picked up from Cabella's, delivered to my house, moved into place and bolted down for $235.

At 790 pounds I was not going to F-with it. I am going to have them pull the truck all the way into the backyard and unload it right there on the porch so it only has to cross one threshold.

getting rid of an old safe?

CJ I have two old stack ons. One will become the ammo locker, just need to make shelfs. The other I am not married to but it really is not worth much.

You know everyone can't have a behemoth ~800lb safe in their house right? Stack On safes, while not the most secure, at least work well for what they are. There is no way, no matter who I hired or how much I paid, that a big safe like that could go up the stairs into my office.

Now once I move (and I will never buy another 2 story house in my life), I fully plan on getting Fort Knox put into my house.

I have a Cannon i bought at Cabella's and it weights about the same. I wasn't planning on buying a safe that day but it was a good deal. So i had them load it in my truck and off i went. I had no plan, no help, and no dolly to get this safe in my house. Anyhow to make a long story short, i would of gladly paid $235 to have some one install it for me.

Have you thought about putting the safe in an unorthodox place in the house? Mine is going in a bedroom. My dad has one in a laundry room / mud room. Fact is the size of safe we need they just don't fit through closet small closet doors.

Sorry i had to laugh. That is something I could have seen myself doing. I unloaded my tool box out of my truck by myself. I could not imagine unloading this safe even with the help of a small squad.

I had one person and a crappy dolly to move it in. But i move it by myself recently to have new carpet installed. With it empty i can rock it side to side enough to get it to the hardwood floor in the hallway. With a old blanket under it i can slid it around.

And w/ the arsenal you're building you defiantly need another safe.

If the stairway is wide enough and structurally sound they can do alot, let them come look,they'll tell you if they can't. They are doing 1000lbs 22 stairs tomorrow.

Stackon safes are a good place to keep your kids out and thats ALL.
Not even your lunch.

I would love to get a huge safe, but I aint carrying it down to the basement.
