Good places to get ammo?

I reload both .223 and .45 and wouldn't consider them cheaper. It's all relative. Right now I'm reloading 1,000 M855 .223 for $121.38. I can reload 1,000 .45 230gr for $153.00. Meaning the cheapest .45 230gr (that I know of) are 45.99 for a box of 100 at walmart - would be $15.30 reloaded - or 3 times cheaper, same goes for .223. And the savings is substantially more on .308 and more expensive calibers.

When it comes to pistol ammo like .45, there is good savings, but you still need to buy in bulk to maximize those savings. 9mm for example, I don't shoot enough to justify buying the dies, bullets in bulk, another type of powder/primers etc.

Rifle ammo is whole different ball game. Even in small quantities there can be large savings in addition to gaining flexibility and accuracy over factory loads. .45-70 for example, a decent factory load can easily cost $2 per round, you can reload that same round for $.60 - $.70.

I can produce rifle ammo 3-10 times cheaper than retail on average, and it's higher quality. However rifle ammo is considerably more expensive to reload give it's substantial increase in difficulty.

I personally will do so, if I can ever sell my home and get moved. Don't want to get setup right now for that, but I am collecting brass when I go to the range.

I had planned to hit you up directly to see your processes when the time comes closer. You seem to really know your stuff around that and it would be valuable to me.

Until then though, I have to keep on the same mundane path of trying to find the cheapest price per round. Although to me, price is not the only reason to reload.

It's also another hobby a lot of people don't appreciate until they try it. I enjoy reloading more than shooting, honestly. It combines my favorite things. saving money, shooting, and hoarding.

I couldn't agree more with CJ on this statement. I never thought I'd have an interest reloading until I sat down and he showed me what it's all about it. It's definitely a skill that will last you a lifetime.

Yeah and it seems like a set of tasks I'd enjoy. I just want to sit at a bench for a few hours, listening to music making my stockpile of ammo. I also enjoy understanding the technicalities of everything. In the end, I'll enjoy it also because I won't be firing 3-4 rounds and thinking...damn, there is a dollar...rinse repeat. It'll be more like 8-10 rounds. (for 223)

It just seems fun and I have buddies who want to as well and I like passing on knowledge too.

I don't even think that way anymore. I just squeeze the trigger all day long and only get concerned when I can see the bottom of my ammo can.
