I'm having the exact problem with my 1911. And I thought it was my loads as well. The gun I have is brand new though and doesn't have but about 200 rounds through it.

Seriously though, sorry to hear about your gun. I never knew that a broken extractor could cause such a problem. Have you closed the slide before with a round already in the chamber?
