The .40 going boom scares me away from those models, however.I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

I am currently thinking about purchasing a Glock 19; the only major complaint I have is that they don't fit my hand quite as well as other manufacturers do, but they aren't horrible uncomfortable either. My uncle used to have one of their .45 models and I consistently shot will with it even though it was not the most comfortable gun out there. But it was damn reliable.

Originally posted by LANTIRN View PostThe reputation of Glocks blowing up comes from their first .40 design ( I am not sure if that was a gen I or gen II pistol ). Apparently they were in a hurry to get a gun out that could use the new .40S&W cartridge that came out, and instead of redesigning a gun around the cartridge, they took the existing design of a 10mm gun and refitted it for a .40. I don't remember all the specifics about why it didn't work, but apparently a 10mm handgun cannot handle a .40S&W very well. After lots of KABOOMS and complaints they redesigned it around the cartridge. Still, the stigma hasn't gone away and I would not own a Gen I or Gen II Glock .40 for that reason. All guns can explode, but those had a really high failure rate.
Glocks are just not my taste. They are reliable. I find their grip angle to be uncomfortable, and I found their polymer frames and action to transfer more energy to your hand than any other gun. And most importantly (to me) I think they're are ugly as shit."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

Originally posted by Tannerm View PostWell, glock is sending the new owner of my 23 a new gun. But, they wouldn't disclose what they found wrong... That's pretty shitty on there part. At least he's getting a new one out of it.
The one I blew up Glock refused to replace, but nicely allowed me to buy a new one at cost ($230).
