Range Proficiency Shooting & Scoring: Passing the proficiency is obtained by scoring a minimum of 175 points, it is most beneficial to place your first 20 rounds at the 3 yard mark and the next 20 rounds at the 7 yard mark in the 5-point areas. Hits within the 8,9 & 10 ring are worth 5 points. Hits within the 7-ring are 4 points, while those outside the 7-ring and still on the silhouette are 3 points. Hits in the white area of the target are 0 points. You have three opportunties to take the range proficiency portion of the test in the event you do not qualify with a passing score. Ammunition is not included in the price of the course, students will provide their own ammunition. If you need to requalify, you will need to either purchase additional ammunition or provide your own.

Steps to get your Texas CHL
Texas Concealed Handgun License Course Saturdays 8:30AM-6:30PM
Course length: New Applicants 10 hours
The Texas Concealed Handgun License New Applicant Course is a complete one-day course beginning at 8:30am and concluding around 6:30pm. Renewal classes are from 8:30am to 1:30pm. This 10-hour course as required by the State of Texas provides everything needed to satisfy the application requirements.The range proficiency examination is conducted on our Private Training Range with up to 12 firing lanes.
1. Choose a Texas CHL class and Register!
2. Complete the class and complete the on-line application with Texas DPS.
A. After March 1, 2011 all applicants are required to submit fingerprints through L1 Identity Solutions. The State will no longer accept fingerprints from any other provider.
3. Once the on-line application is complete mail in all your supporting documentation to the State.
Eligibility Requirements for Texas CHL
No Class A or B misdemeanors 5 years prior to submitting the application to the State.
Must be 21 years of age.
No Felony Charges unless deffered adjudication or expunged from your record.
No Domestic Violence Charges.
